August 21, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY A night of unrest descending upon East New York left one teenage boy dead inside a local neighborhood restaurant and two young girls hospitalized in a separate, chaotic confrontation just blocks away.
The violence erupted around 8:23 p.m. on Wednesday inside Hakim’s restaurant at 514 New Lots Avenue. Officers from the NYPD’s 75th Precinct responded to reports of an escalating dispute outside the establishment. Upon entering, authorities discovered 17-year-old Ahmir Jordan suffering from a fatal gunshot wound inside the venue. First responders pronounced Jordan dead at the scene.
The chaos triggered panic among patrons inside the restaurant. A 35-year-old customer attempting to escape the gunfire collided with a glass shelf, sustaining cuts to his body. Investigators report that two suspects dressed entirely in black fled the scene immediately following the shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with Jordan's murder.
Shortly after the shooting, a second, unrelated violent incident unfolded nearby at a Dollar Tree located at 817 Van Siclen Avenue.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that a large group of teenagers entered the store and surrounded a 44-year-old mother who was shopping with her children. As the group began harassing the family, the mother, identified by police as Viola Bouyer, pulled out a knife.
During the altercation, Bouyer allegedly stabbed a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl in the abdomen, while also slashing a 16-year-old girl across the arm. Emergency medical services transported all three teenagers to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where they are currently listed in stable condition.
Police taken Bouyer into custody at the scene, charging her with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Both incidents remain under active investigation by the NYPD.
