3. The 50th Annual Macy’s Fireworks Extravaganza
When the sun goes down on the 4th of July, the sky will literally explode. To mark the golden 50th anniversary of the Macy’s Fireworks display, the show is expanding to epic proportions.
Pyrotechnics will launch from four barges in the East River and two near Jersey City. The display will connect communities like never before, lighting up the lower East River, the Seaport District, the lower Hudson River, and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge simultaneously.
Safety and Security: Locked Down
With millions of people descending on the waterfront, security will be tighter than ever. New York State, the NYPD, the Navy, and the Coast Guard are doubling down on land, water, and counter-drone security operations.
The Coast Guard has already issued strict Marine Safety Information Bulletins outlining waterway restrictions and safety zones from July 1 through July 9 to keep the historic event running flawlessly.
This is shaping up to be one heck of a 250th birthday party. Clear your schedules, book your travel, and get ready to witness history!
