April 24, 2026 NEW YORK, NY A horrifying video that has already racked up over one million views on Instagram has left New Yorkers sick to their stomachs.

The footage, which captures a daylight assault so violent it looks like a scene from a professional wrestling match gone wrong, has finally resulted in handcuffs. On Thursday, police sources confirmed that the 14-year-old suspect behind the "East Harlem Stomp" is in custody.

The Attack: "Get Away From Me"

The incident unfolded at the corner of East 107th Street and 3rd Avenue at approximately 3:39 p.m. on April 20. According to police sources, the 14-year-old suspect—clad in all black and a face mask—had been harassing the 15-year-old victim for her phone number.

When she refused, the situation turned deadly serious.

The viral clip shows the boy grabbing her arm and demanding she "stand right here." When the girl pleaded for him to get away and tried to walk off, the suspect snapped. He lunged, hoisted the girl over his head, and slammed her directly into the concrete sidewalk. As if the body slam wasn’t enough, the footage shows the brute brutally stomping on the girl’s head before casually walking away, leaving her crumpled on the pavement.

A City in Shock

The video, posted by the popular account @coronavirusny, has ignited a firestorm of digital rage. The comments section has become a digital wake for NYC's lost sense of safety:

  • "I want to unsee this so bad," one user lamented.

  • "I'm so mad right now," another wrote, echoing the sentiments of thousands who couldn't believe the lack of intervention.

The Fallout: Justice or Just a Juvenile Charge?

Officers from the 23rd Precinct moved quickly after the video went viral. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where, miraculously, she is listed in stable condition.

The 14-year-old attacker was apprehended shortly after the footage began circulating. He currently faces:

  • Second-Degree Assault charges.

Because of his age, the NYPD has withheld his identity, but the legal system is now under immense pressure to deliver more than a slap on the wrist for an attack that many say could have easily ended in a homicide.

"He slammed her like she wasn't even human," one witness remarked online.

As the city grapples with a rise in youth violence, this video remains a haunting reminder of how quickly a walk home from school can turn into a fight for survival.
