September 24, 2026 NEW YORK, NY Well I just have to star off by saying, "What Happened to the Yellow Cab Hack?"  I was in a serious rush and I didn't have time to take the train or wait for a rideshare like Uber, Lyft or any of the other ones that have officially flooded the transportation market.  So I hailed a Yellow Cab.  I was over in Union Square, and I had to get to 125th and Broadway.  The cab Driver spotted me and cut a few other cabs off to get to me.

I was a little relieved, I'm in a rush and I had to get uptown quickly and this driver seems to be a little aggressive.  I jump in "125th and Broadway boss." I said.  The driver looks up at me in his rearview mirror with a confused look on his face.  "125th and Broadway, please, I'm in a hurry." I said again and he is still looking at me with even more of a confused look.  Now we are both looking at each other and we are both confused.  "What's the problem, am I missing something?" I asked.  At this point, the driver is totally confused with what I am asking and can't figure it out at all.  He is literally looking at me with a look of confusion and bewilderment.

"Ok, maybe I need to get different cab." I said as I'm opening the door and getting ready to get out.  My left foot was on the ground and just as I'm about to exit, the driver turns around, hands his phone to me and asks me to enter the address into his GPS App.  OK, I didn't make a big deal, I took his phone and then  entered the intersection that I wanted to go to and handed it back to him.  Now I never would've expected this from a "Yellow Cab".   Rideshare drivers already have the address and if I hailed a "Yellow Cab" through an app they would have the same.  I did it the way New Yorkers do, I "Hailed" it.

The fact that a "Yellow Cab" driver needed me to enter an intersection into a GPS is scary.  What's even more scary, this is probably one of the most famous intersections is all of the city.  Now I know a lot of you think that to become a "Yellow Cab" driver in New York City all you needs is a driver's license.  It takes a lot more than just a driver's license, there is training to get a TLC/Hack License for the "Yellow Cab" vs the Rideshare license.  I'm not here to compare licenses or the training that is involved.  I just can't believe that a "Yellow Cab" driver didn't know the intersection.  Hell, maybe he was just having a bad day. We might never know...  One thing for sure, he certainly drove like every other "Yellow Cab" driver.  He was riding up on cars, jumping into the left and back into the middle, avoiding the double parkers.

After all that, he managed to get me there a few minutes before my meeting so all was not lost, only part of my sanity was for a moment.
