September 24, 2026 NEW YORK, NY What was supposed to be a late-night romantic rendezvous inside a trendy Times Square hotel quickly turned into a fight for survival when a predator pulled out a handgun and viciously pistol-whipped his date.

The shocking attack has sent fresh alarm through New York City's dating community, highlighting the growing danger of meeting up with online strangers behind closed doors.

The Trap Inside Room 152 West 48th Street

The horror unfolded around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, inside the high-end Motto by Hilton hotel in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

According to law enforcement sources, the 30-year-old victim had connected with the suspect through Grindr, a popular dating and social networking app for the LGBTQ+ community. After exchanging messages, the pair agreed to meet up at the victim's hotel room.

Shortly after arriving, the suspect dropped the charade, drew a concealed firearm, and smashed the heavy weapon directly into the right side of the victim's head.

The gunman then violently tried to rip away the victim's headphones, sparking a chaotic physical struggle inside the room before the attacker fled into the Midtown streets.

A Bloodied Escape and Hospital Rush

Responding officers from the NYPD's Midtown North Precinct arrived to find the victim suffering from painful head trauma and lacerations caused by the violent gun strike.

Emergency Medical Services rushed the wounded 30-year-old to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where doctors treated his injuries. He remains in stable condition, but the traumatic ambush has left the hotel staff and local residents deeply shaken.
