July 6, 2025 SOUNDVIEW, The Bronx, NY – In a concerning incident that unfolded late Saturday night, an off-duty NYPD officer was the victim of a carjacking in the Soundview section of The Bronx. The brazen theft occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Ward Avenue, prompting an immediate police response and igniting a multi-agency investigation.
Police sources identified the victim as a 27-year-old off-duty officer. His Chevrolet SUV was forcibly taken by an unidentified suspect. Thankfully, the officer was unharmed during the harrowing encounter.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered in New Rochelle, where it was discovered to have been involved in a collision. Investigators are also examining a Ford SUV, found nearby with significant front-end damage, for its potential connection to the carjacking.
As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made, and authorities are actively working to piece together the events that led to the carjacking. The investigation is ongoing, with police striving to determine a motive and identify the perpetrator.
