September 21, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY A peaceful evening walk turned into a terrifying nightmare when a violent predator ambushed a woman inside Brooklyn's Prospect Park, violently choking her in a brutal attempted rape before fleeing into the shadows.
The NYPD has released an urgent sketch of the suspect wanted for the vicious attack, which unfolded inside a wooded area near Wellhouse Drive and the Terrace Bridge at approximately 9:35 p.m. on September 16.
According to investigators, the victim—a 41-year-old woman who did not know her attacker—was suddenly blindsided when the monster grabbed her by the neck. He squeezed violently, cutting off her air supply and causing severe pain and panic before attempting to sexually assault her.
Following the harrowing struggle, the coward fled the scene on foot, heading westbound deeper into the park along Wellhouse Drive. Emergency services rushed the victim to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and listed in stable condition.
Detectives from the Special Victims Squad and the 78th Precinct have launched a manhunt to track down the assailant. The suspect is described as towering at 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a light-colored short-sleeve shirt, and khaki pants.
