Twenty-nine-year-old Jason Ferrer was hanging out with friends near Cruger Avenue and Magenta Street in the Williamsbridge neighborhood just before 9:00 p.m. when the sudden gunfire erupted. Officers from the 47th Precinct and Police Service Area 8 rushed to the scene following frantic 911 calls, discovering Ferrer collapsed on the pavement and bleeding profusely from a devastating gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical responders raced him to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was later pronounced dead.
