October 7, 2026 NEW YORK, NY A disgraced Manhattan attorney already accused of brutal, systematic abuse has been hit with devastating new charges involving a seventh victim, officials announced Tuesday.
Ryan Hemphill, 44, was formally arraigned in New York State Supreme Court on a staggering 41-count indictment detailing allegations of predatory sexual assault, first-degree rape, aggravated sexual assault, and second-degree assault. The latest charges stem from a horrific seven-hour ordeal in the spring of 2024 inside his Midtown apartment.
According to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the latest victim came forward after recognizing Hemphill from news reports detailing his previous indictment last year, which involved the alleged rape and torture of six other women between October 2024 and March 2025.
"The conduct alleged in this indictment is absolutely horrific," Bragg stated, praising the survivor’s courage. "I am grateful for this survivor’s bravery in coming forward, despite the defendant’s alleged attempts to convince her that a coerced, videoed statement would make him impossible to prosecute."
Unmasking the Depravity Behind Closed Doors
Court documents outline a nightmare scenario beginning after Hemphill connected with the woman through the dating site SugarDaddy.com—the same platform prosecutors say he used to target multiple other victims.
Over seven harrowing hours, prosecutors allege Hemphill subjected the woman to extreme physical violence, repeatedly raping her orally, vaginally, and anally. The indictment paints a chilling picture of calculated torture: Hemphill allegedly threatened the victim with a knife, bound her to his bed, burned her skin with a heated object, and strapped an electric shock collar around her neck.
Investigators further allege Hemphill repeatedly submerged the woman's head underwater, pulling her up just before she lost consciousness, only to force her under again.
To prevent his victims from seeking justice, prosecutors allege Hemphill systematically recorded the violent acts and coerced the women to state on camera that the encounters were consensual, threatening to use his knowledge of the law to have them arrested if they spoke out.
