September 15, 2025 Corona, Queens – A quiet Sunday night in Corona turned into a scene of chaos and heroism after a reckless driver lost control, striking two children and sending a community into a frenzy.

It happened just after 8 p.m. near the intersection of 102nd Street and Martense Avenue. Witnesses told CBS News New York that a white Honda Accord, allegedly speeding, swerved off the road, collided with a parked car, and slammed into a residential building.

Residents, jolted by the thunderous impact, rushed from their homes to find a horrifying sight: the wrecked vehicles on the sidewalk and two children pinned beneath the speeding Honda. Without a moment's hesitation, a crowd of neighbors and passersby rallied together. In a powerful display of unity, they began pushing the car, a desperate effort to free the young victims.

"Every adult just, like, started trying to push the car backwards," one witness recounted. "The children were pinned under the car but... once the car was actually backwards enough, the kids had enough breathing space."

The children, whose ages have not been released, were taken to local hospitals. They are both in stable condition.
