September 16, 2025 THE BRONX, NY – A search is underway for an armed assailant who shot a 20-year-old man in the face Tuesday night in the Bronx. The brazen attack, which unfolded just after 7 p.m. on East 161st Street, left the young victim with a gunshot wound and a community on edge.

According to a police report, the victim was standing in front of 611 East 161st Street when an unidentified man on a Citi Bike approached him. Without warning, the gunman got off the bike, pulled out a firearm, and fired a shot, striking the victim in the face before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition remains unknown. It's unclear if the two men knew each other or what led to the shocking violence. The motive for the shooting remains a mystery as the NYPD’s investigation is still in its early stages.

The NYPD is urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the gunman's arrest. The suspect is described only as an unknown male.
