September 8, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY Terror struck a Brooklyn neighborhood on Monday night when a masked assailant opened fire in broad public view, ruthlessly assassinating a 32-year-old man with a point-blank gunshot wound to the head.
The brutal slaying unfolded at approximately 8:36 PM on September 7 directly in front of 350 Bristol St. in Brownsville. According to investigators from the 73rd Precinct, a group of individuals was gathered near an intersection when one member of the group drew a firearm and unleashed deadly gunfire without warning.
First responders and emergency medical crews rushed to the chaotic scene following frantic 911 calls. They discovered the victim, identified as 32-year-old Cleo Daniels of Bedford-Stuyvesant, lying critically wounded with a devastating head wound. Paramedics transported Daniels on an emergency run to Brookdale Hospital, where medical staff waged a desperate battle to save his life, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The suspect, clad entirely in menacing dark attire featuring a black hooded sweatshirt, a full black mask, black shorts, and black joint sneakers, triggered an immediate manhunt. Following the fatal gunfire, the cold-blooded shooter fled on foot, vanishing into the shadows of a nearby park on Dumont Avenue.
Forensic teams and precinct detectives combed the cordoned-off area, recovering multiple shell casings from the pavement. As of Tuesday morning, the killer remains at large, and a motive for the execution-style shooting has not yet been established.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information, surveillance footage, or clues regarding the masked gunman's identity or whereabouts to step forward immediately.
