August 13, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY A quiet summer night in Brooklyn turned into a deadly nightmare when a gunman opened fire on a crowded intersection, leaving a middle-aged man dead in what appears to be a targeted street execution.
At around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, officers from the NYPD’s 81st Precinct raced to the corner of Broadway and Lewis Avenue after a flood of frantic 911 calls reported multiple gunshots ringing out.
When cops arrived at the scene, they were met with a gruesome site.
Left For Dead
Officers found a man, believed to be in his 40s, lying on the pavement with multiple gunshot wounds across his body.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Kings County Hospital in a desperate bid to save his life. Tragically, the damage was too severe—he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Four Shots In The Dark
According to law enforcement sources, the killer unloaded at least four rounds at close range before vanishing into the night.
As of now, investigators have not released a description of the suspect, and the motive behind the ruthless attack remains unclear. Detectives are currently scouring nearby business security cameras and interviewing witnesses to track down the shooter's path. No arrests have been made.
Violence Hits A Quiet Precinct
The cold-blooded killing shatters what had been a relatively quiet stretch for local law enforcement. Up until August 9, the 81st Precinct had recorded just one homicide for the year—a noticeable drop from the three recorded during the same period last year. Shooting incidents had also seen a slight decline, dropping from nine to seven.
