July 6, 2025 BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn detectives are actively investigating a fatal shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead in the early hours of Saturday, July 5th. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification, was shot in the chest and later succumbed to his injuries at Brookdale University Hospital.

Police were alerted to the incident around 1:32 a.m. when hospital staff reported receiving a shooting victim. Law enforcement sources indicate the man was transported to the hospital by private means. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Crime Scene Uncovered in New Lots

Officers from the NYPD's 67th Precinct, who initially responded to the hospital, quickly determined the shooting occurred in front of P.S. 174 at 574 Dumont Avenue in the New Lots section of Brooklyn, an area within the 75th Precinct's jurisdiction. Investigators have since sealed off the crime scene and are meticulously searching for evidence that could shed light on the brutal killing.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time, and authorities have made no arrests in what is described as an active and ongoing investigation.
