June 5, 2026 NEW YORK, NY HARLEM — What started as a typical weekend evening outside a bustling Manhattan hub instantly devolved into a horrific, two-pronged nightmare.
A peaceful evening was shattered at approximately 7:58 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, when a 47-year-old man was cornered outside the heavily trafficked Harlem Center, located at 125 West 125th Street. Within moments, an ordinary sidewalk encounter turned into a brutal, coordinated ambush that has left the community on edge.
A Calculated Trap: Blinded and Bleeding
According to police reports, the victim was standing outside the building when two strangers aggressively approached him. An argument broke out, but before the victim could even process the threat, the confrontation took a sinister and violent turn.
In a viciously coordinated attack, one of the suspects suddenly pulled out a canister of pepper spray, blasting the 47-year-old directly in the eyes to completely blind and incapacitate him.
As the victim reeled in agony, the second suspect seized the moment of vulnerability. Pulling out a razor-sharp weapon, the assailant lunged forward, viciously slashing the helpless man across his face and hands.
The Escape and the Hunt
With their victim bleeding on the pavement, the ruthless duo turned and sprinted eastbound down 125th Street, vanishing into the New York City crowds.
First responders rushed to the scene, treating the traumatized victim before paramedics rushed him to nearby Harlem Hospital. Remarkably, despite the terrifying nature of the wounds to his face and hands, officials confirm he is currently in stable condition.
Now, the hunt is on. The NYPD has just released chilling surveillance footage and crisp photos of the suspects caught in the act.
