Contrasting Trends in Citywide Crime:
Despite this weekend's surge in violence, NYPD data indicates that homicides citywide are down by nearly 27% this year compared to the same period in 2024 (as of May 4th). However, police data reveals an increase in homicides in the 115th Precinct (North Corona) and the 48th Precinct (Fordham North) so far this year.
Experts suggest that violent crime can often see an uptick as the weather warms and more people are outdoors. The NYPD continues its investigations into these recent homicides and urges anyone with information to come forward.
