March 23, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY A quiet Saturday night in Crown Heights descended into a scene of pure, unadulterated horror when a 43-year-old woman allegedly turned a pair of household scissors into a deadly weapon, leaving one senior dead and another scarred for life.

A Desperate Escape

The nightmare began just before 10:30 p.m. at 1700 Bedford Avenue. Residents of the 71st Precinct watched in shock as a 72-year-old woman, bleeding profusely from stab wounds to her arm and torso, stumbled out of her home. In a heroic feat of survival, she managed to reach a neighboring building to dial 911, alerting authorities to the carnage she had just escaped.

She told responding officers a story that sounds like a Hollywood slasher flick: a woman she lived with had completely "snapped," barricading herself inside the apartment after launching a frenzied attack on her and her older roommate.

The Breach and the Discovery

When the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU) arrived, they found the apartment door deadbolted—a silent tomb for the violence within. After forcing their way inside, the scene they encountered was grisly:

  • The Victim: A 74-year-old woman lay slumped with multiple, horrific stab wounds to her head and arms.

  • The Weapon: Sources indicate the suspect used a simple pair of scissors to carry out the mutilation.

  • The Arrest: Police pushed into the back bedroom, where they found the 43-year-old suspect waiting in the shadows.

The 74-year-old victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital, but the damage was too severe. She was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her identity is currently being withheld as authorities work to notify her family of the tragedy.

A Family Connection?

While the NYPD has not officially released a motive, insiders close to the investigation reveal a disturbing twist: the suspect is believed to be related to the deceased woman. The 72-year-old survivor remains in stable condition, but the emotional scars of the "unhinged rampage" will likely never heal. Charges against the 43-year-old woman are currently pending as detectives piece together what triggered this explosion of domestic violence.
