April 14, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY The sun was high over Sunset Park last Friday, but the midday peace was shattered by a chilling confrontation that has left a neighborhood on edge.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on April 10, two boys—just 15 and 16 years old—were standing outside a residence at 823 59th St. It should have been a standard spring afternoon. Instead, it became a fight for survival.

The Ambush

Two men approached the teenagers within the confines of the 66th Precinct, brandishing what investigators describe as a "cutting instrument." Facing the glint of a blade, the boys were forced to hand over their belongings. The thieves didn't just take their money; they took their mobility.

The suspects fled the scene with:

  • $60 in cash

  • An electric scooter While the teenagers were fortunately not physically harmed, the psychological toll of being targeted in broad daylight is immeasurable.

Have You Seen These Men?

Detectives have scoured the area for footage and have released surveillance images of the individuals believed to be responsible. Police are asking the public to look closely at the descriptions:

  • Suspect 1: Last seen draped in all-black clothing with a black face mask obscuring his features.

  • Suspect 2: Sporting a distinct and colorful outfit—a blue hat, green shirt, and a purple sweater.

The NYPD is counting on the community to speak up. A purple sweater and a blue hat in the middle of the afternoon are hard to miss. If these descriptions ring a bell, your tip could be the missing piece of the puzzle.
