October 28, 2026 QUEENS, NY A tranquil evening in Kew Gardens Hills turned into a horrific crime scene Monday night after a 24-year-old woman was brutally beaten to death in her own home, allegedly following a explosive confrontation sparked by accusations of infidelity.
Police officers from the 107th Precinct rushed to a residence on the 6900 block of Park Drive East, near Jewel Avenue, around 8:30 p.m. on October 26 after receiving an urgent report of an assault in progress. Inside, first responders discovered Tania Morales unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from massive, severe head trauma and a deep laceration to her wrist.
Emergency Medical Services rushed Morales in critical condition to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where medical staff worked frantically to save her. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Husband Taken into Custody Following Shocking Phone Call
Investigators quickly focused their attention on the victim’s husband, taking him into custody at the scene shortly after officers arrived.
According to sources familiar with the ongoing investigation, the fatal incident unfolded shortly after the husband confronted Morales, accusing her of unfaithfulness. The heated argument escalated rapidly into lethal violence.
Following the assault, the husband allegedly placed a phone call to his mother. During the call, he claimed that Morales had attempted to attack him with a knife, prompting him to strike her with a heavy pole in self-defense. However, law enforcement sources noted that when officers took the husband into custody, he displayed no visible signs of injury or struggle.

As of Tuesday, formal charges against the husband remain pending as detectives from the 107th Precinct and Queens North Homicide Squad gather physical evidence and await findings from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
