July 6, 2025 Bronx, NY – An 18-year-old woman tragically died early Saturday morning while in the custody of the New York City Police Department at a Bronx precinct station house. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts by officers, the young woman became unconscious and later succumbed after being transported to a local hospital.

The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. at the 41st Precinct station on Longwood Avenue in Hunts Point. According to official police statements, the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, lost consciousness while being detained.

"Multiple officers performed CPR while awaiting EMS response," police confirmed in an official release detailing the death. Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived on the scene and transported the woman to Lincoln Hospital. However, she could not be saved.

The circumstances surrounding why the young woman was in custody have not been disclosed by the NYPD. Authorities have cited an ongoing investigation by the NYPD's Force Investigation Division, a standard procedure for deaths occurring in police custody.
