July 30, 2025 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A violent altercation on a Brooklyn subway platform in the early hours of Wednesday morning tragically resulted in a man's death after he was struck by a train. The incident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the Prospect Park station, sent shockwaves through the morning commute, causing significant delays across multiple subway lines.

Sources close to the investigation told PIX11 News that police were initially responding to reports of an assault when they discovered a man on the platform suffering from severe head trauma. Despite being hit by a train, the victim reportedly never fell onto the tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Commuter Chaos: Subway Delays Ripple Across Brooklyn

The fatal incident led to immediate and widespread disruptions for thousands of morning commuters. The B, Q, D, and N subway lines all experienced substantial delays as police launched their investigation at the Prospect Park station.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) confirmed that B and Q trains were rerouted for much of the morning rush. Coney Island-bound Q trains were redirected to run on the N line from DeKalb Avenue. Meanwhile, some Manhattan-bound B and Q trains were terminated at Prospect Park, where they were then turned around for Coney Island-bound service. Downtown B trains were also affected, running on the D line from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, with Manhattan-bound B trains ending their service at Prospect Park.
