July 18, 2025 COLLEGE POINT, QUEENS – A domestic dispute in College Point tragically escalated into a fatal shooting Thursday night, culminating in a Queens man turning himself in to authorities just hours later. The incident, which unfolded outside a quiet residential home, has sent shockwaves through the community and highlights the devastating consequences of marital strife.

According to the NYPD, Jose Centeno, 55, is accused of gunning down Antonio Cantor, 50, who was reportedly his estranged wife's boyfriend. The fatal confrontation occurred around 10:30 p.m. outside Cantor's College Point residence. Police sources indicate that Centeno's wife was present at the scene, witnessing the horrific events unfold.

Investigators stated that Centeno and Cantor became embroiled in an altercation outside the home. The dispute quickly turned deadly when Centeno allegedly fired three shots, striking Cantor in the chest and stomach. Emergency Medical Services rushed Cantor to New York-Presbyterian Queens in critical condition, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

In a dramatic turn of events, Centeno surrendered to officers at the 109th Precinct station house approximately 12 hours after the shooting. He has since been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. As of now, attorney information for Centeno has not been released.

This tragic incident marks the fourth shooting in the 109th Precinct this year, a figure consistent with the average over the past few years. However, it stands in stark contrast to the same period last year, which saw no reported shootings in the precinct.
