January 8, 2026 New Year’s Day is supposed to be a time for new beginnings, but for 55-year-old Issa Isac, it was a gruesome end. In what police believe is New York City’s first homicide of the year, a minor traffic accident in the Bronx spiraled into a cold-blooded execution.
Now, the NYPD has a name, a face, and a city-wide manhunt underway.
The Face of a Wanted Man
Detectives are officially hunting for 24-year-old Ehinel Troncoso. He is the prime suspect in the killing of Isac, an African immigrant who spent his final moments terrified, trying to escape a confrontation that should never have turned deadly.
A Night Shift That Ended in Tragedy
Issa Isac was a man who lived the New York dream through hard work. After selling his taxi medallion to buy a home, he transitioned to driving for Uber. He had just finished a grueling 12-hour overnight shift when disaster struck in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx.
Just before 7 a.m. on Morris Avenue, a minor "fender-bender" occurred. Surveillance footage—blurred by the morning snow—captures the chilling final sequence:
-
Isac is seen putting his Blue Toyota RAV4 into reverse.
-
A man approaches the driver's side window, aggressively banging on the glass.
-
As Isac tries to speed away to safety, two men are seen chasing the vehicle on foot.
A Hero Found in the Smoke
The scene was discovered by the unlikeliest of first responders. Firefighters, arriving to extinguish what they thought was a routine car fire, found Isac slumped inside his vehicle. He hadn't just crashed; he had been shot in the head.

$10,000 for Justice
The community is refusing to let this case go cold. An organization representing livery drivers has put up a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. Issa Isac was a father, a homeowner, and a vital part of the city’s fabric who was taken over a dented bumper.
