August 27, 2025 THE BRONX, NY — A harrowing wave of gun violence has washed over the Bronx, leaving a trail of bloodshed and fear. In a brutal eight-hour period, four separate shootings have shattered the borough's peace, leaving two men dead and two more injured, including a delivery driver for Amazon.

The Dangers of a Delivery Route

The violence hit particularly close to home for a 31-year-old Amazon delivery worker who became a victim of circumstance. He was caught in the middle of a brazen daytime shootout at the intersection of Bryant Avenue and East Tremont Avenue. The incident, which unfolded just after 2:30 p.m., has left residents and officials reeling.

According to a neighbor, the sound of gunfire was terrifyingly close and sudden. "I heard two gunshots, followed by five," she recounted. The timing of the shooting has sparked particular alarm, occurring during the same hours when children would soon be walking home from the nearby P.S. 6 elementary school.

Police believe the delivery worker was not the intended target. He was shot in the ankle while sitting in his vehicle and has since been taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is in stable condition. An Amazon spokesperson stated, "Our team is working with the driver's employer to support them however we can, and cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate."

The victim's manager, who rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, expressed his dismay. "It's sad to go through something like this," he said. "He's just out here making money, trying to figure out a living and just something like this happens to you, it's unexpected."

A Day of Bloodshed

The shooting of the Amazon worker was the third violent incident in a day already marked by tragedy. The day began with a fatal shooting in the Tremont section at 8:10 a.m., where a 32-year-old man was killed after being shot in the back on Anthony Avenue.

The violence continued into the evening. At a fourth shooting on Adams Place in the Belmont section, a 26-year-old man suffered two gunshot wounds to the leg. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition. In two other separate incidents, shots were fired across the borough, though thankfully, no injuries were reported.

As the Bronx grapples with this shocking surge in violence, residents are left with a lingering question: When will the bloodshed end?
