High-Profile Victim Targeted Outside Parole Office

October 17, 2025 Mott Haven, Bronx, NY—A brazen daylight shooting has rocked the Bronx, leaving a well-known drill rapper dead and sending shockwaves through the local community and music scene. NYPD sources confirm that John Martinez, 27, better known by his stage name Suave Drilly, was fatally shot as he exited a parole office in Mott Haven on the evening of October 15.

The incident unfolded just before 6:00 p.m. near the corner of Alexander Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard. Police reports indicate that Martinez was leaving the Division of Parole office when he was approached by a group of assailants. The gunmen immediately opened fire, striking Martinez multiple times in the torso.

Masked Assailants Flee Scene

Details from the ongoing investigation reveal a chilling scenario. At least three men, all wearing ski masks, reportedly carried out the attack. Following the barrage of gunfire, the suspects were last observed fleeing the area eastbound on East 132nd Street.

Parole officers present at the scene immediately rushed to the victim’s aid, simultaneously contacting the 40th Precinct and attempting to secure the perimeter. A witness, Clarisa Alayeto, described the tense moments to reporters, noting, "People were getting close, and they were like back up back up with their guns out."

Rapper’s Troubled History

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived quickly and attempted to provide critical care, performing chest compressions before transporting Martinez to Lincoln Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Martinez was no stranger to the criminal justice system. In 2022, he was one of 20 individuals indicted by the Bronx District Attorney’s office in connection with alleged involvement in multiple shootings across the borough. State correctional records show he was imprisoned in 2023 following a conviction for a first-degree attempted gang assault charge. He had only been out on parole since January 2024.

The rapper's sudden and violent death has provoked an outpouring of grief and tribute from his fanbase across social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube.
