July 16, 2026 THE BRONX, NY It is every New York City commuter’s worst nightmare.
You are standing on a crowded subway platform, minding your own business, waiting for your train to arrive. Suddenly, without warning, a pair of hands shoves you from behind directly toward a roaring, multi-ton steel train.
For one 47-year-old straphanger in the Bronx, this horror movie scenario became a brutal reality.
Now, the NYPD is hunting for the cold-blooded attacker, and they need your help to put him behind bars before he strikes again.
The Attack: Split-Second Horror at Fordham Road
The violence erupted in broad daylight at around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the busy Fordham Road station on the D line near Grand Concourse.
The victim was standing near the edge of the platform, waiting for a Manhattan-bound D train. As the train began pulling into the station, the suspect crept up behind him.
Without a single word, exchange, or provocation, the attacker lunged forward, shoving the victim directly toward the tracks.
A Miraculous Near-Miss: By some miracle, the victim did not fall onto the tracks where he likely would have been crushed. Instead, he fell forward just as the train arrived, causing his face to collide violently with the side of the moving subway car.
The impact was devastating. The victim suffered severe lacerations and trauma to his face and mouth, including a lost tooth.
Officers from the 46th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 11 rushed to the platform alongside emergency medical services. The victim was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated and listed in stable condition. He survived, but the psychological scars of the attack will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
The Suspect: A Brazen Escape and Disturbing Behavior
Immediately after the push, the attacker turned on his heel and calmly fled the station on foot.
But he didn't stay hidden for long. Investigators tracking the suspect’s movements recovered chilling surveillance footage. In a bizarre and brazen display of lawlessness, the suspect was captured on video inside a packed subway car casually lighting up what appeared to be a cigarette or a joint—showing absolute disregard for the transit system, the law, and the passengers around him.

The suspect is described as a male last seen wearing:
-
A dark-colored tank top
-
Dark-colored pants
How You Can Help Stop This Maniac
This was a completely random, unprovoked assault. As long as this individual is on the loose, every single commuter on the D line remains a potential target.
The NYPD has released images of the suspect and is begging the public to come forward with any information.
