August 14, 2025 THE BRONX – In a disturbing and seemingly random act of violence, a 33-year-old man was brutally slashed in the neck while on a No. 2 train in the Bronx. The New York Police Department has released an image of the woman they believe is responsible for the unprovoked attack, which occurred just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to authorities, the incident took place as the train pulled into the Bronx Park East station near White Plains Road. The victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly getting off the train when he was suddenly attacked. Police say there was no prior interaction between the two, and the motive for the slashing remains a mystery.
The suspect, described as wearing a distinctive yellow shirt and red and yellow sneakers, fled the scene immediately after the assault. The NYPD is now asking for the public's help in identifying the woman in the released photo.
This latest incident has reignited fears among commuters about safety on the city's subway system. While the NYPD has increased patrols in recent months, Sunday's slashing is a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of subway crime. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline.
