September 2, 2026 NEW YORK, NY It is every parent's worst nightmare brought to terrifying life deep beneath the streets of Manhattan. A routine subway trip turned into a desperate struggle for survival when a brazen stranger tried to rip a 6-year-old girl right out of her mother's arms in broad daylight.

The heart-stopping incident went down at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 29 inside the bustling Inwood-207 Street subway station on the A line. As a young mother and her daughter passed through the station's turnstile, a female predator crept up silently from behind. Without warning, the suspect clamped her hands onto the little girl's arm and violently tried to drag her away into the underground chaos.

Acting on pure maternal instinct, the mother let out a piercing scream and wrenched her daughter back through the turnstile barrier, violently breaking the stranger's grip and rescuing her child from an unthinkable fate. Miraculously, the youngster escaped the harrowing encounter without physical injuries.

Before the suspect could vanish completely, the quick-thinking mother managed to pull out her phone and snap a clear photograph of the fleeing attacker as she bolted onto a southbound A train. That crucial piece of evidence was immediately handed over to the 34th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 3 investigators.

Law enforcement describes the suspect as standing roughly five feet two inches tall. During the attack, she was spotted wearing a blue hat, dark sunglasses, and a distinctive white-and-black shirt.

Police are urging anyone who recognizes the woman in the photo or has information regarding the incident to step forward immediately. Tips can be called into Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (or 888-57-PISTA for Spanish speakers), submitted online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or sent via X at @NYPDTips. All callers and tipsters remain strictly confidential as the manhunt intensifies.
