July 10, 2025 THE BRONX, NY – A routine June afternoon outside P.S./I.S. 218 Rafael Hernandez Dual Language Magnet School in the Bronx turned violent when a fight among teenagers escalated, leaving a 16-year-old boy with a serious wound from a surgical scalpel.
According to police reports, the victim was engaged in a physical altercation with two other male teens, believed to be between 16 and 17 years old. The confrontation took a dangerous turn when one of the assailants allegedly used a surgical scalpel to slash the victim before repeatedly punching and kicking him.
Following the brutal attack, emergency medical services transported the injured teen to BronxCare Health System. He was admitted in stable condition, and his injuries, while severe, are not considered life-threatening. The two suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident and remain at large.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about youth violence in urban areas and the alarming presence of dangerous weapons in school-adjacent environments. Authorities continue their investigation into the matter.
