August 1, 2025 THE BRONX — A middle school math teacher is facing serious charges after allegedly raping a 13-year-old student multiple times. According to the Bronx District Attorney's office, the disturbing series of events came to light after the victim's older sister reportedly walked in on the teacher and student getting dressed.

William Jones, 32, who taught at American Dream Charter School, was indicted on multiple charges, including eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual misconduct. The alleged assaults occurred between April 28 and June 2, taking place inside the student’s home while her family was away.

District Attorney Darcel Clark condemned the alleged acts in a statement, saying, "The defendant engaged in disturbing and predatory conduct, made worse by the fact that he is a schoolteacher entrusted with the care and safety of students."

How the Alleged Abuse Came to Light

Prosecutors said the victim’s sibling helped expose the alleged rapes when she returned home and saw the two putting their clothes on. Shortly after, the student's mother discovered explicit texts, photos, and videos on her daughter’s phone. After confirming the phone number with the school, she identified the suspect as Jones and immediately contacted the NYPD.

Jones is also facing five counts of disseminating indecent material to minors. He has since left his position at the charter school and is currently out on bail. His next court date is set for October 14.
