January 17, 2026 QUEENS, NY — A routine overnight shift turned into a nightmare for a 37-year-old MTA conductor on Thursday, after a violent, unprovoked predator breached the safety of a subway cabin to launch a brazen physical assault.

The NYPD has now released chilling surveillance images of the man they say is responsible for the attack that has sent shockwaves through the Far Rockaway community.

A Midnight Ambush

The clock hit 1:24 a.m. on January 15 when the unthinkable happened. As a Manhattan-bound A train rolled into the Beach 25th Street station, a conductor sat within the supposed sanctuary of his cabin.

In a terrifying breach of transit safety, the suspect didn't just stand on the platform—he approached the cabin and launched a punch so powerful it sent the victim's head slamming into the metal wall of the train.

The Escape

As the victim reeled from the blow, the assailant didn't look back. He vanished into the darkness of the Far Rockaway streets, fleeing to "parts unknown" before transit police could arrive.

Paramedics rushed the 37-year-old victim to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. While he is currently listed in stable condition, the psychological toll of being hunted while simply doing his job remains immeasurable.
