February 2, 2026 BRONX, NY What started as a heated exchange on a quiet Sunday morning ended in a horrific scene of violence that has left a Mott Haven community on edge and a 35-year-old man fighting to recover from multiple gruesome wounds.
A Verbal "Beef" Turns Deadly
At approximately 10:18 a.m. on February 1, the sidewalk in front of 385 East 144th Street became a crime scene. According to law enforcement sources, a 35-year-old man became embroiled in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual.
While the exact nature of the argument remains a mystery, the outcome was crystal clear. The suspect escalated the confrontation instantly, brandishing a sharp instrument and repeatedly hacking at the victim’s body.
The Escape
As the victim collapsed with multiple slash wounds, the perpetrator didn't stick around to answer for the carnage. Police report that the suspect bolted on foot, heading northbound along 3rd Avenue.
Officers from the 40th Precinct arrived to find a bloody scene. EMS worked quickly to transport the victim to Lincoln Hospital. In what can only be described as a miracle given the nature of the attack, he is currently listed in stable condition.

The NYPD is now scouring the neighborhood for a suspect who was clearly prepared to hide his identity. The assailant is described as a male wearing:
