February 9, 2026 BRONX, NY A quiet Sunday morning in the Bronx shattered into a scene of absolute devastation this weekend. A young man, just 27 years old, had his life stolen in an instant by a driver who didn't even have the decency to tap the brakes.

The Midnight Strike

The clock sat at 2:24 a.m. on February 8 when the nightmare unfolded. Outside the building at 646 Westchester Ave., a gray SUV was prowling through a parking lot. In a sequence of events that the NYPD is still piecing together, the heavy vehicle slammed into the victim with enough force to cause "severe head trauma."

Instead of stopping to help, the driver chose a different path: cowardice. The SUV sped away, disappearing into the dark Bronx streets while the victim lay bleeding on the asphalt.

A Life Cut Short

First responders arrived to a grim scene. EMS crews worked desperately, rushing the 27-year-old to Lincoln Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the trauma team, the damage was too severe. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

As of this moment, the victim’s name is being held close to the vest by authorities while they perform the heartbreaking task of notifying his next of kin.

The Hunt is On

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad has taken over the scene. There are no arrests yet, and a killer remains at large behind the wheel of a gray SUV.

In a city of millions, someone saw something. Whether it was the sound of the impact, a glimpse of a license plate, or a gray SUV with fresh front-end damage parked in your neighborhood—the police need that one missing piece of the puzzle.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS VEHICLE? > The suspect vehicle is described as a gray SUV. It was last seen fleeing the vicinity of Westchester Avenue in the early hours of Sunday.
