June 24, 2025 BROOKLYN, NY – NYPD detectives have released disturbing surveillance footage of a man wanted in connection with a violent slashing, beating, and robbery that occurred at a Bushwick subway station early Sunday morning. The harrowing incident has once again cast a spotlight on transit safety in New York City.
Just after midnight on Sunday, June 22, 2025, a 26-year-old woman was making her way down a staircase at the Chauncey Street subway station when she was accosted by the assailant. Authorities report the suspect produced an unknown sharp object, using it to slash the woman on the chin. He then forcibly pushed her to the ground, repeatedly striking her with a closed fist.
After the brutal assault, the perpetrator fled with the victim's cell phone, debit card, headphones, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say he was last seen exiting the subway station on foot and remains at large.
The victim was transported by EMS to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. She was treated for minor injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.
