January 27, 2026 NEW YORK, NY The NYC subway system has reached a terrifying new low.
On a crowded Saturday afternoon at the Union Square-14th Street station, a 54-year-old man wasn’t just the victim of a random assault—he was hunted. Around 5:20 p.m., as the victim stepped off a southbound R train, he was reportedly lunged at by a German shepherd.
When the straphanger naturally asked the owner to control his animal, the situation turned from tense to prehistoric. Sources say the owner didn’t offer an apology; instead, he slapped the man across the face and stripped the muzzle off his dog.
"Take Care of Your Business"
In a chilling command that sounds like something out of a horror movie, the owner allegedly looked at his dog and ordered: "Take care of your business."
The beast obeyed. The German shepherd pounced, sinking its teeth into the victim’s left hand as commuters watched in horror. Before transit police could arrive, the man and his weaponized pet vanished into the labyrinth of the subway tunnels.
The victim was rushed to NYU Langone Tisch Hospital with severe lacerations. While he is in stable condition, the psychological scars of being "hunted" on a public platform will likely last a lifetime.
THE HUNT IS ON: The NYPD has released surveillance footage of the suspect. He was last seen rocking a camouflage jacket and a black hat. If you see this man or a muzzled (or unmuzzled) shepherd matching this description, do not approach. Call 800-577-TIPS immediately.
