August 4, 2025 Queens — NY Homicide detectives in Elmhurst are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place just blocks from their precinct station house on Saturday evening, August 3. A 45-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds in a basement stairwell and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The Attack

Police from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call at approximately 6 p.m. at 40-38 Case Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim face down and bleeding profusely in the stairwell of the three-family home. A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation stated that the man had suffered seven stab wounds to the chest.

A neighbor on the first floor discovered the victim and was the one to call for help. EMS rushed the man to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Search for a Suspect

As of Monday, there have been no arrests, and police have not released any description of a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. The NYPD is asking anyone with information to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477). For Spanish speakers, the number is 888-57-PISTA (74782).
