March 6, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY – A community is in mourning and a family is shattered after a split-second tragedy turned into a hunt for a fugitive on the rain-slicked streets of Brownsville.
What began as a routine Thursday morning ended in unimaginable grief at the intersection of Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Avenue. At approximately 11:10 a.m. on March 5, a four-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle in a collision that has left seasoned investigators reeling.
A Parent’s Worst Nightmare
According to sources close to the investigation, the child was walking with his parents when he suddenly broke away, bolting into the busy intersection. The pavement was wet from the morning rain when a white Ford Explorer struck the boy.
Rather than stopping to help, the driver behind the wheel of the SUV sped away, leaving a dying child and his traumatized parents behind.
The Desperate Race to Save a Life
In a pulse-pounding act of desperation, the parents did not wait for an ambulance. They scooped up their severely injured son and rushed him themselves to Brookdale University Hospital, located only blocks away.
Despite the frantic efforts of medical staff, the boy’s injuries were too severe. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Authorities are withholding the child’s identity at this time as the family grapples with the loss.
The Hunt for the White SUV
The NYPD’s 73rd Precinct has launched a full-scale search for the driver. The vehicle in question—a white Ford Explorer—was last seen fleeing the scene of the crime.
