October 20, 2025 BROOKLYN, NY—A shocking discovery of human remains in Flatbush has culminated in an arrest, authorities confirm. The investigation began after a neighbor found a garbage bag containing body parts on Friday outside a building on East 21st Street.

Police have charged Christopher Moss, 38, with concealment of a human corpse following the gruesome find.

The initial discovery involved a man's head and torso found wrapped in plastic inside a blue trash bin. The odor, described by officials and neighbors, had reportedly permeated the area for days. A street repair crew was the first to detect the powerful smell.

Residents spoke of the pervasive odor. One neighbor stated that opening the nearby apartment door would result in a potent "whiff" that "would just smack you in the face," adding that the smell was detectable even from the opposite side of the apartment. Another resident noted the unusual sight of "a lot of flies" around the trash area just prior to the discovery.

According to sources close to the investigation, the arrested individual, Moss, was the roommate and boyfriend of the deceased.

As of the latest reports, law enforcement has not yet identified the victim. The building's superintendent reportedly observed a tenant placing several bags in the trash on the day of the discovery. Neighbors also noted that the couple was frequently seen smoking outside the residence.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify the victim and determine the full circumstances surrounding the dismemberment and the placement of the remains.
