November 13, 2025 BRONX, NY A terrifying scene unfolded late on a Saturday night in the Bronx, resulting in one man dead and another injured after a brutal stabbing inside an apartment building. The incident, which quickly escalated into a murder investigation, has shocked the community near East 162nd Street.

The Emergency Call: Police Respond to 42nd Precinct
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that officers were dispatched just after 11:25 p.m. on Saturday, November 8th, following a 911 call reporting a stabbing. The incident occurred inside the building located at 341 East 162nd Street, situated within the jurisdiction of the 42nd Precinct.
Upon arrival, police found two victims who had sustained stab wounds.
One Man Dead: Identifying the Victims
Tragically, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
- The Deceased: A 48-year-old man was found suffering from a severe stab wound to the neck. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced him dead immediately. Days later, on Wednesday, November 12, the NYPD identified the victim as 48-year-old Joel Algarin, of the Bronx.
- The Survivor: A second male victim, 39 years old, was found with multiple lacerations to his arm. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was listed in stable condition.
Swift Action: Arrest and Murder Charges
