October 23, 2025 The Bronx, NY — A brutal early morning incident in the Edenwald section of the Bronx has led to a murder charge, according to officials. The New York Police Department (NYPD) has confirmed an arrest following the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man, a case that has rattled the local community.

Victim Found with Multiple Stab Wounds

The sequence of events began on Wednesday, October 22, around 4 a.m. Officers from the 47th Precinct were dispatched to an emergency call reporting a stabbing at 1138 East 229th Street, an address within the boundaries of Police Service Area 8.

Upon arrival, first responders encountered a tragic scene: a 35-year-old male, later identified as Miguel Batiz, a resident of Edenwald, was found unconscious and unresponsive with "multiple stab wounds throughout the body," an NYPD spokesperson confirmed. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced Mr. Batiz deceased at the location. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Suspect Charged with Murder

The investigation quickly led to a suspect. Later the same day, Wednesday evening at approximately 7 p.m., police announced an arrest. Enoch Rosado, 67, also of Edenwald, was taken into custody within the confines of the 47th Precinct, which serves an area that includes Woodlawn, Baychester, and Williamsbridge.

Mr. Rosado now faces several serious felony counts, including:

  • Murder
  • Manslaughter
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon

As with all criminal cases, the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
