March 6, 2026 THE BRONX, NY – A quiet Friday morning at the Forest Houses was shattered by gunfire today, leaving a young man dead and a neighborhood on edge as three mysterious figures in black remain at large.
The cold-blooded violence unfolded at 765 East 165th St. in Morrisania. At approximately 6:35 a.m., while many residents were just waking up, the sound of a single, devastating shot echoed through the halls of the public housing complex.
A Life Cut Short at Dawn
When officers from the 42nd Precinct and NYPD Public Service Area 7 stormed the building following a frantic 911 call, they were met with a gruesome scene. A 27-year-old man lay unconscious and unresponsive, bleeding from a catastrophic gunshot wound to the head.
First responders rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Police are currently withholding his name until his family can be notified of the nightmare that began their day.

The shooters didn’t stick around to see the aftermath. Witnesses reported seeing three suspects dressed entirely in black clothing fleeing the building immediately after the shot rang out.
As of this afternoon, the motive for the execution remains a mystery. Detectives are currently combing through the building for surveillance footage or forensic evidence that could lead them to the trio currently evading capture.
