July 16, 2025 Brooklyn, NY – Police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a disturbing subway assault where an elderly man was brutally beaten with his own cane after allegedly delaying a train. The shocking incident, which unfolded on July 14 at the 86th Street N line station in Bay Ridge, left the 73-year-old victim with significant injuries.
What Happened: A Minor Delay Escalates to Vicious Assault
According to law enforcement, the altercation began around 4:10 p.m. when a Coney Island-bound N train was about to depart the station. The victim, attempting to board at the last minute, reportedly prevented the doors from closing. This action apparently enraged the suspect, who confronted the senior.
The verbal dispute quickly turned violent. The suspect allegedly snatched the victim's cane and began mercilessly beating him with it. The attack resulted in a laceration to the victim's right eye and a fracture to his left arm. Sources close to the investigation indicated the victim was intoxicated at the time of the assault. An MTA worker who witnessed the horrific event provided crucial details to the police.
Victim Hospitalized, Suspect Remains at Large
The injured senior was transported to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where he is reported to be in stable condition. Meanwhile, the perpetrator fled the scene immediately after the assault and remains at large.
NYPD Seeks Public's Help in Identifying Suspect
The NYPD has released surveillance footage of the suspect, who was last seen wearing a white tank top, black pants, and gray sneakers.
