October 7, 2026 QUEENS, NY A quiet Queens neighborhood became the scene of a gruesome homicide investigation early Wednesday morning after a man was found stabbed to death inside a local park.

Officers from the 103rd Precinct rushed to Major Mark Park, located near the intersection of Hillside Avenue and 175th Street in Jamaica Estates, following an urgent 911 call at approximately 4:47 a.m.

Callers reported seeing an unconscious and unresponsive man lying inside the park grounds. Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers made a grim discovery: the victim had suffered a fatal stab wound directly to the chest.

Emergency Medical Services arrived moments later, but there was nothing they could do. The victim was pronounced dead right at the scene.

Who Was the Victim?

Police have not yet released the identity of the slain man as detectives work to confirm his name and notify next of kin. Authorities believe the victim was in his 30s.

Investigators are currently examining whether the victim was unhoused and living in or around the park at the time of the fatal assault.

The motive behind the violent attack remains entirely unclear.

No Suspects, Investigation Open

As day broke over Jamaica Estates, crime scene investigators cordoned off the area to comb the park for physical evidence, potential weapons, and surveillance footage from surrounding businesses along Hillside Avenue.

At this stage of the investigation, police have not released a description of a person of interest or suspect, and no arrests have been made.

Despite the shocking nature of the incident, violent crime statistics show a slight decrease in homicides in the area. Through Oct. 4, the 103rd Precinct had recorded three homicides year-to-date, down from four reported during the same period in 2025.

NYPD Issues Plea for Public's Help

Detectives are desperately seeking any witnesses who may have been near Hillside Avenue or 175th Street during the early morning hours or anyone who may have heard an altercation inside Major Mark Park.
