July 19, 2025 SCHENECTADY, NY – In a disturbing revelation that unfolded during a recent sentencing, a New York man confessed to a calculated double murder, telling authorities he decided to kill his ex-wife because she "deserved it" more than his current spouse, whom he'd already slain. The shocking details emerged as 38-year-old Timothy Taylor of Brooklyn pleaded guilty to the brutal stabbing of his former spouse, Tishawn Folkes-Taylor, in her Schenectady home in May 2023.
The upstate killing occurred just two weeks after Taylor allegedly murdered his then-current wife, Theresa Gregg, in her New York City residence. This week, as Taylor entered his plea for the Schenectady murder, prosecutors from the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office unveiled the chilling motive behind his actions.
According to officials, Taylor admitted to detectives that after killing Theresa Gregg, he "felt bad." However, his remorse seemingly gave way to a twisted sense of justification as he set his sights on Folkes-Taylor, a 44-year-old mother of three. "He knew he had to come to Schenectady to kill his former wife because he harbored so much animosity toward her and in his words, she, unlike his first victim, deserved it," the District Attorney’s Office stated following Taylor's July 1 guilty plea.
The May 2023 attack on Folkes-Taylor was particularly gruesome, occurring in front of her three horrified children. Meanwhile, Theresa Gregg, a mother of two, worked as a special officer for the city’s Department of Homeless Services before her life was tragically cut short.
