June 10, 2025 BROOKLYN, NY – Sunday evening's post-parade celebrations in Bushwick turned to chaos as two teenagers were stabbed amidst a large gathering, just hours after the annual Knickerbocker Puerto Rican Day Parade concluded. The incident, which unfolded near Maria Hernandez Park, has left one young man in critical condition and highlights ongoing concerns about public safety in the vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood.

Double Stabbing Shakes Community

The tranquility of a Sunday evening, June 8, was shattered around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Knickerbocker Avenue and Suydam Street. Police, responding to a 911 call reporting an assault, discovered a 19-year-old man with stab wounds to the abdomen and an 18-year-old man stabbed in the back. Both victims were swiftly transported by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital. As of Monday morning, the 19-year-old was reported to be in critical but stable condition, while the 18-year-old was stable.

The area, within the jurisdiction of the 83rd Precinct, was teeming with people following the day's parade festivities. The motive behind this violent act remains unclear, and authorities have yet to make any arrests or release a description of a suspect. Police sources indicate that both victims have been uncooperative, offering no details about their assailant.

Investigation Underway Amidst Public Safety Concerns

The investigation into this double stabbing is ongoing. The lack of cooperation from the victims presents a challenge for detectives working to piece together the events leading to the attack.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another violent episode in Bushwick just days prior. On June 6, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old were assaulted at a subway station in what police described as an attempted robbery, with one teen stabbed and the other punched.
