July 8, 2025 The Bronx, NY – After weeks of preying on local businesses, a serial burglary suspect is off the streets. Police announced Sunday the arrest of 54-year-old Edgar Esquilin in connection with a string of commercial break-ins that plagued the borough since late June.

Esquilin faces three counts of burglary following his apprehension. However, authorities confirm they are still searching for at least one other individual believed to have partnered with Esquilin in these illicit acts.

According to investigators, Esquilin and his accomplice employed a similar modus operandi in each incident: they allegedly shattered or bypassed the security gates of commercial establishments before pilfering cash from registers and other valuable property. The spree, which saw no reported injuries, spanned three separate incidents occurring between June 27 and July 1.

The community can breathe a sigh of relief with this arrest, but the search continues for the remaining suspect. Businesses are encouraged to review their security measures and report any suspicious activity to the NYPD.
