December 24, 2025 BROOKLYN — What should have been a classic winter afternoon for a 10-year-old boy in Kensington morphed into a parent’s worst nightmare last Wednesday.

On the busy stretch of Ocean Parkway, a simple snowball toss allegedly triggered a level of street-side rage that has left the community shaken and the NYPD on a city-wide hunt for a silver minivan.

From Child’s Play to Brutal Assault

The incident began when the young boy reportedly threw a snowball that struck a passing vehicle. While "snowballing" cars has long been a risky rite of passage for city kids, the response this time was anything but routine.

According to investigators, the driver didn't just shout or keep driving. He stopped.

An argument erupted between the man and the 10-year-old, but the verbal spat quickly took a sickening, physical turn. Police reports state the man grabbed the child and, in a display of shocking force, slammed the boy’s head into the rear windshield of a nearby parked car. ### The Escape As the child recoiled from the impact, the assailant didn't stick around to see the damage. He reportedly jumped back into his silver minivan and sped off, heading westbound and disappearing into the Brooklyn afternoon.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, suffering from significant pain to his head and hand. While the physical wounds are expected to heal, the psychological toll of such a violent encounter remains to be seen.

The Search is On

The NYPD is currently scouring surveillance footage from Ocean Parkway to track the silver minivan’s license plate. They are described as looking for a male suspect who was last seen fleeing the Kensington area.
