January 7, 2026 BRONX, NY — The lunch rush at Daisy’s Pizza is usually defined by the smell of oregano and the sound of city traffic. But on Monday afternoon, the routine was shattered by screams and a burst of senseless violence that left a local man dead and a neighborhood looking over its shoulder.
A Target in the Light of Day
It was just before 2:00 PM on January 5 when the peace was broken at 3077 3rd Avenue. According to authorities, 53-year-old George Ennin was standing outside the pizzeria—only three blocks from his home on Brook Avenue—when a nightmare materialized in front of him.
Without warning, a suspect lunged at Ennin, plunging a blade into his body multiple times. The attack was swift, brutal, and occurred in the full glare of the Monday sun. Ennin was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, but the wounds were too severe; he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Man in the Helmet
While a motive remains a chilling mystery, the NYPD has a clear lead. Detectives from the 40th Precinct have released surveillance images of a "person of interest" they are desperate to find.
The individual was last seen:
-
Wearing: All dark-colored clothing.
-
Distinctive Feature: A dark-colored helmet.
-
Escape Route: Fleeing westbound on East 157th Street.
A Community on Edge
