April 8, 2026 BROOKLYN, NY A routine traffic stop in the heart of Williamsburg turned into a scene of pure adrenaline and violence this past weekend. A driver, cornered by the NYPD, chose to use their luxury sedan as a battering ram, striking a police officer and smashing through patrol cars before vanishing into the night.

The Ticking Clock at Wallabout and Broadway

The chaos erupted at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. Members of the NYPD Community Response Team—a unit seasoned in high-stakes enforcement—spotted a white 2018 Infiniti Q50S that screamed "suspicious."

The car was a rolling red flag:

  • Illegal Montana plates (a common tactic to avoid local registration and tolls).

  • Illegal window tints so dark the occupants were invisible.

As the officers stepped out of their cruisers at the intersection of Wallabout Street and Broadway, they expected a standard investigation. They got a fight for their lives instead.

60 Seconds of Terror

The moment the officers approached, the driver of the Infiniti hit the gas. In a desperate bid for freedom, the suspect lunged forward, slamming into two NYPD vehicles. But the driver wasn't done.

Switching to reverse, the suspect floored it, striking an officer with the rear of the vehicle. The impact sent the officer to the pavement as the Infiniti roared away, fleeing southbound on Wallabout Street.

The Aftermath

The injured officer was rushed by EMS to a local hospital. While the department confirms he is in stable condition with bruising and injuries to his lower body, the psychological toll of being targeted by a 3,800-pound weapon remains.

"It’s a stark reminder that in New York City, there is no such thing as a 'routine' traffic stop," said one source close to the investigation.
