September 3, 2026 QUEENS, NY A quiet Queens neighborhood became a crime scene early Wednesday morning after a 59-year-old man was discovered lying unconscious on the asphalt, bleeding from a torso stab wound and severe head trauma just inches from his own vehicle.

The grim discovery was made around 4:38 a.m. on September 2. Officers from the 106th Precinct rushed to the intersection of 87th Street and Dumont Avenue in Ozone Park following an urgent call about a man collapsed on the ground across the street from a local residence.

First responders arrived to find the victim unresponsive behind his parked car, with the driver's side door standing wide open. Inside the vehicle, investigators spotted a collection of open and empty alcohol containers, adding an immediate layer of mystery to the chaotic scene. Officers desperately performed CPR on the pavement until emergency medical technicians arrived to take over life-saving measures.

As paramedics battled to keep the man alive, a terrifying detail emerged: he had sustained a deep stab wound to his torso in addition to blunt force head trauma. EMS rapidly transported him to Brookdale University Hospital, but medical staff were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Authorities are withholding his identity pending proper family notification.

Detectives are treating the case with extreme urgency, though the official cause and manner of death—and whether it will be ruled a homicide—remain pending a final determination by the City's Chief Medical Examiner. As of now, no arrests have been made, and a manhunt or information campaign is underway to piece together the final moments of the victim's life.
